We will advise you on the evidence in each case and in those cases where you admit guilt the advantage of pleading guilty at an early stage in the case so as to obtain a discount on sentencing. In drink driving cases we will advise you as to the eligibility to attend a drink driving awareness course, which if completed successfully, would entitle you to a 25% discount on the period of disqualification subject to paying a course fee of not more than £250.00, subject to certain placements.

For most guilty pleas for motoring offences, these are usually dealt with within 28 days by the Magistrates Court.

If a not guilty plea is entered, then it can take something in the region of 6 months for there to be a trial. Each case is fact unique but generally for a not guilty plea there will be two attendances at Court, the first attendance to enter a plea and the second attendance for the trial. We can advise both you and the Court as to our estimate for the duration of the trial at the not guilty plea stage of the proceedings.

In respect of any expert that needs to be called for example a road traffic reconstruction expert, you will be advised as to the costs involved and if you are acquitted and the likelihood of the recoverability of legal costs and experts fees, though in respect of our legal costs this will be considerably less than what you have spent as generally speaking any costs awarded in your favour are based on legal aid rates which is about a quarter of the legal costs you have incurred.
